The first golf course was created back in 1944 just outside San Jose at the Costa Rica Country Club.  It remained the only golf course in the country for the next 25 years.  Finally in 1974, George Fazio designed the first 18 hole championship golf course that was named the Cariari Country Club.  One of the best golf courses, in Central America.  Golf course construction was booming in the early 90’s with designs from famous golf architects like Robert Trent Jones II, Ron Garl, Ted Robinson, Mike Young, Tracy May and Arnold Palmer.
